Today's technology offers a variety of tools to help diagnose and treat conditions with greater accuracy. If you need diagnostic imaging services, rely on us. A department of Byrd Regional Hospital, the Leesville Diagnostic Service Center offers a staff dedicated to providing advanced imaging for the people of Vernon Parish and surrounding areas. We offer shortened exam times, comprehensive imaging and quality patient care. We deliver immediate test results and are committed to providing our patients with compassionate service.
A Sharper Image
At our Diagnostic Services Center, we have the advanced technology for your needs. You may be familiar with conventional X-rays, which are typically used to diagnose common injuries like fractures. But there are other diagnostic tests that offer advanced technologies:
- Computed tomography (CT) scans offer the ability to view fine details inside the body and present multiple images spaced closely together. These studies offer patients the comfort of shorter completion times. The center's Brilliance 16-slice CT scanner provides high-quality images. The scanner offers doctors a choice of exams that may identify heart disease risk, even before serious symptoms develop.

Breast Health Breast cancer death rates are declining, which is probably the result of finding cancer earlier and improved treatment. Women ages 40 and older should have a mammogram every year and should continue to do so for as long as they're in good health. |
Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women (other than skin cancer). This short assessment will help you determine if you have major risk factors for breast cancer. |
Mammography is an X-ray exam of the breast that detects and evaluates abnormalities, both in women who have no breast complaints or symptoms and in women who have symptoms. Mammograms are most often used to look for cancer in women who have no symptoms. In December 2007, we installed a brand new mammography unit with digital stereotactic biopsy capabilities. This new technology will aid in detecting breast cancer in earlier stages.
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses radio waves and magnets to construct cross-sectional images of internal organs and structures without radiation. The Intera 1.5 Tesla MRI offers detailed views of soft-tissue structures in less time.
- Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves without radiation to examine organs and is commonly used to examine fetal growth. Detailed images are returned in real time, making the 4-D technology particularly useful for guiding minimally invasive procedures—such as needle biopsies—and for visualizing organ, blood vessel and tissue movement.
- Bone densitometry helps determine whether you're at high, increased or low risk of fracturing a bone. Using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), this test is a safe, low radiation, accurate and painless detector of bone mineral density. Bone densitometers with instant vertebral assessment also produce X-rays of the entire spine for spine fracture assessment.
Fast and Comfortable
Images from these diagnostic tests are generated digitally and sent electronically to your physician. In most cases, you can take your images on a CD when you leave the office. We also archive your images in case you or your physician needs them in the future. Every test relies on being read or interpreted, and many doctors depend on the radiologist's report for insights into the results. We're proud to have high-caliber, experienced radiologists.
