Emergency Services
You do not plan to visit the emergency department. It just happens, and usually when you least expect it. At Byrd Regional Hospital, we practice a philosophy of emergency care called ER+, which helps further our goal that you will receive quality medical care as quickly and professionally as possible.
Constantly on alert status, Byrd Regional Hospital has an active Emergency Room and operates the only Level III hospital in our parish, providing 24-hour emergency care to the residents of our community. Designed to respond immediately and comprehensively to the needs of victims of injury, the Byrd Regional Hospital ER is staffed 24 hours a day to receive patients and has orthopedists, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and other specialists ready to respond.
Treating injuries ranging from minor cuts and bruises to life-threatening medical incidents, the Emergency Services at Byrd Regional Hospital bring expert medical, surgical and nursing team members together to provide quick response to emergency situations. In the most severe injuries, such as those resulting from automobile accidents, the "Golden Hour" is critical - the sooner patients are treated, the better their chances for survival and successful outcome.
Countless Vernon Parish residents would not be alive today had it not been for Byrd Regional Hospital's Emergency Services Center.
Byrd Regional Hospital's Emergency Center is also supported by Acadian Ambulance & Air Med Services, a 24-hour helicopter evacuation and transportation service.
Byrd Regional Hospital's Emergency Center team is also supported on a 24-hour basis by complete diagnostic services.
