About the Surgery Center
An Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is a facility where surgeries that do not require a hospital admission are performed. Patients who elect to have surgery in an ASC arrive the day of the procedure, have the surgery in an operating room, and recover under the care of a nursing staff, all without hospital admission.

At Leesville Surgery Center we focus our attention on making your outpatient experience as pleasant as possible. Our highly trained staff and your surgeon combine state-of-the-art equipment and compassion to provide you with the highest quality of care in a supportive environment. Your personal comfort and rapid recovery are our highest priorities.

We are qualified to provide a variety of the most sophisticated surgical outpatient procedures.

Hours of Operation
The ASC is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please know that the ASC does not offer emergency or after hours care. If you require immediate treatment for a problem following your surgery, please contact your surgeon’s answering service.  In an emergency, please call 9-1-1.

If you have Questions
We understand that you probably have questions and concerns about your procedure. Our staff is available to answer your questions.  Please let us know how we may be of assistance. Our goal is to make your experience with us a positive one.

The following information is to help prepare you for your upcoming procedure.

Prior to your surgery

  • A nurse from the ASC will call you before the day of your surgery to:
     - Review your medical history and current medications
     - Answer any questions you may have about your surgery
  • If you have not heard from a member of our staff by 2:00 p.m. on the day prior to your surgery, please give us a call, (337)392-3099.
  • A member of our business office staff will also contact you to answer any questions you may have about your financial responsibilities to the surgery center, and will confirm your insurance coverage prior to your surgery.  As part of our efforts to serve our community, we gladly accept Medicare assignment and participate in a number of managed care and insurance programs.  We do accept all major credit cards.
  • Feel free to visit the ASC before the day of your surgery. This may help you, and especially children, feel more at ease on the day of a procedure. Please call us to arrange an appointment.
  • If you suspect that you are pregnant, please notify your surgeon. Anesthesia and certain medications may be harmful to the developing fetus.

The night before your surgery

  • Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery including gum, water, mints or vitamins unless your anesthesiologist has given you special instructions stating otherwise.  This is very important for your safety.  If you do not do this, your procedure may have to be delayed or rescheduled.
  • On the day of surgery, one parent must remain in the center at all times.  Please bring diapers and a bottle or sippee cup.  Your child may keep a small toy or special item with him/her for comfort.
  • If you are taking medications, we will give you instructions on what you should do.

The morning of your surgery

  • DO NOT eat or drink anything in the morning unless you have been given special instructions stating otherwise.
  • DO NOT wear jewelry, watches, makeup or nail polish.  If you wear contact lenses, please bring a case with you as well as glasses.
  • DO get a good night’s rest.
  • DO wear comfortable clothing that you can change easily and that will not bind the site of your surgery.
  • DO bring slippers.
  • DO leave valuables and jewelry at home as the ASC is not responsible for lost articles.
  • DO remember to bring your insurance card, driver’s license and Medicare card (if applicable) with you.
  •  DO bring a friend or family member to wait for you during surgery.
  • Persons under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian with them to sign the consent forms.
  • If you are diabetic, please bring your glucose-monitoring device.  If you take insulin, bring it with you.
  • If you use inhalers, please bring them with you.
  • Your anesthesiologist will discuss your procedure with you, tell you exactly what will happen before, during and after your surgery, and answer any remaining questions you may have.

After your surgery

  • YOU MUST HAVE A RESPONSIBLE ADULT WITH YOU TO DRIVE YOU HOME OR ACCOMPANY YOU IF YOU PLAN TO USE A TAXI SERVICE.
  •  You will rest in our recovery room under the care of specially trained nurses from 30 minutes to two hours. You may be sleepy or dizzy after your surgery.
  • Your anesthesiologist will monitor your condition.
  • Nurses and physicians will answer your questions and provide you with detailed instructions.  You will receive a written copy of these instructions.  Please follow them carefully.
  • Have someone plan to stay at home with you through the night.
  • DO NOT make any important decisions, drive or operate machinery for 24-hours after your surgery.

When you get home

  • Patients often experience minor after effects following anesthesia, such as drowsiness, muscle aches, a sore throat, headaches or dizziness.  Nausea may also be present, but vomiting is less common.  These side effects decline rapidly in the hours following surgery, but may take several days before they are gone completely.
  • The majority of patients do not feel up to their typical activities the next day, usually due to tiredness or surgical discomfort.  Plan to take it easy for a few days until you feel back to normal.
  • Contact your surgeon if you have questions about what you can and cannot do, when you can return to work, and how active you can be.
  • Your arrival time will allow for the completion of necessary paperwork and clinical preparation prior to your scheduled surgery.

Leesville Surgery Center does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, or age in admission, treatment, or participation in its programs, services, and activities, or in employment.
