Breast Cancer Risk Assessment
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women (other than skin cancer). This short assessment will help you determine if you have major risk factors for breast cancer.

Detailed information on mammogram, including the reasons and preparation for the procedure, how the procedure is performed, and after care.

The Byrd Regional Hospital's Women's Diagnostic Center offers complete health screenings, breast health, childbirth, and support services for women of all ages. In addition, we've attracted physicians specializing in the unique obstetrical, and gynecological needs of women and Board eligible radiologists and registered radiological technologists. Byrd Regional Hospital also offers free pregnancy testing.

Obstetrics & Gynecology Services are staffed by the area's leading specialists. These services offer comprehensive pregnancy care, including ultrasound and nutrition services. Byrd Regional Hospital provides maternity patients with LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum) rooms.

Tiny Toes Maternity Program is a comprehensive maternity program designed to promote the use of Byrd Regional Hospital's facilities in the areas of obstetrics and pediatrics. Any expectant mother is eligible to join the Tiny Toes Maternity Program. Click here to learn more.

Breast Health Services bring education, screening, diagnostic, and support services to women right here in Vernon Parish. Clinical services include low-dose mammography, breast ultrasound, glactogram, cyst aspiration, needle localization, needle biopsy and stereotactic breast biopsy.

You can find out how to perform your own at-home breast self-exam, or schedule a regular mammogram at our Mammography Center at 337-239-5494. Designed with women in mind, we've created an environment aimed at making you comfortable during your visit. We adhere to the FDA's standards of mammography and have gathered a friendly, highly knowledgeable staff of technologists, nurses, physicians, and support staff. If you are over 40 years old, the American Cancer Society recommends and we suggest, that you schedule a mammogram every year.

When breast cancer is found early, the five-year survival rate is 96 percent. This is good news! Over two million breast cancer survivals are alive in America today.
